The Forgotten Hulk

The Forgotten Hulk

Regular price £60.00

I have mentioned simplicity before in a painting, this is another example of that concept. The only real item of dominant interest is the hulk in the foreground, but as the eye drifts away from this subject, one realises there is much more to look at. The items of drift wood, the small rocks and stones which in themselves are nothing, take on a new importance when you realise they have been consciously placed there. It is very easy in a composition like this to put the horizon line down the middle of the canvas, If you intend to put brush to canvas please try to resist this as it makes a boring composition. Often in a painting like this, a dominant sky works well and this was a priority. It was worked up from a photo I took above my cottage in 2003, the extremities of a rain shower on the right of the image were of my own making.
